MDC-741: 2 ft, 4kW Radome
MDC-740: 3 ft/4 ft, 4kW Open Array
FEATURES
- Semi-3D
display
Radar echoes are shown as
realistic visual impressions.
The amplitude of echo is determined
by its signal strength and is
painted on the Mercator type coordinate.
The semi-3D display is shown together
with normal radar screen.
- Auto
Gain and Clutter Controls as Standard
Using the AUTO key, your radar
settings are automatic for the
gain and rain/sea clutter. The
radar's computer expertly sets
Gain, STC, and FTC levels, allowing
the operator to concentrate on
other chores. Previously, these
features were found only in larger
and more expensive radar systems.
- High
Speed Antenna
You can select your antenna rotation
speed to 48 rpm via the menu.
A vital feature for fast moving
ship navigating congested waters,
rivers, canal, etc.
- ATA
Option
The Automatic Tracking Aid
feature is available as an option.
Using this option your radar tracks
up to 10 targets, providing the
latest collision avoidance information
in vector form.
- Semi-continuous
Range Scales
Closely separated range scales
are available via the menu. The
scale value increases or decreases
by approximately 10% of the range
in use. This feature is quite
essential for the navigation in
congested waters, which requires
constant vigilance.
- On
Screen Multi-Languages
Fifteen languages are available
as standard and can be selected
via the menu. These include; Chinese,
Danish, English, French, German,
Greek, Italian, Japanese, Korean,
Norwegian, Portuguese, Russian,
Spanish, Swedish, and Turkish.
- One-Key-One-Function
plus Menu Operation
Six dedicated key switches are
provided for fundamental radar
controls, such as range scale,
brilliance, Gain, STC and FTC.
Plus, a variety of additional
functions are also available via
the menu.
- User
Defined Keys
Frequently used functions
can be assigned to seven user-defined
keys. Available functions total
28, and are assorted in 4 groups.
You can customize this radar to
your own operational needs.
- Rotary
Control
One large rotary control is
provided for quick and easy operation
controlling EBL, VRM, Gain, STC
and FTC. No more cumbersome key
controls are needed, such as,
up and down, right and left. Splash
Proof Display The display unit
can be installed even in a place
where water splash protection
is not good such as, the fly bridge,
open deck, etc.

Two
compact, full-featured radar's for
commercial fishing boats, tug boats,
work boats and pleasure craft up to
60 ft.
- Convenient
function keys and menu system
By assigning frequently used
functions to the two FUNC
keys, you can promptly select
different radar modes. The
menu system also allows for
easy selection of the different
function choices.
- The
latest technology in pointing
device
A newly developed pointing
device that is both watertight
and dust-proof is used. This
device enables you to make
an easy prompt selection of
the variable range marker
and other user functions.
- Freely
selectable range scales
The optimum range scale suit
your present situation can
be selected from a host of
range scales choices available.
No need to worry any more
about the measuring distances.
- Own
track indication, waypoint
indication and picture mode
selection make navigation
easy
- By
connecting your navigation
system and electric compass
or gyrocompass, you can display
your waypoint and own vessel's
track on the display. North
up, course up, head up and
true motion modes are also
available.
- The
location memory can be conveniently
used for finding buoys for
rescue work
- The
system memorizes the location
of your boat when the FUNC
key is pressed. This function
is especially effective for
relocating someone who has
fallen overboard or returning
to previously dropped buoys
(connection to a navigation
system is necessary).
- Warning
zone setting to alert you
of closing events.
By designating two points
using the cursor, a flexible
warning zone can be created.
An IN and OUT alarm mode can
also be selected.
- Intermittent
transmission watch
The intermittent transmission
function is located in the
SAVE mode. This feature is
particularly useful for watch
keeping under reduced power
consumption.
- Two-speed
antenna rotation makes quick
moving, long-distance target
detection possible (MD-3642
only) # A choice between
50 rpm and 25 rpm antenna
speeds enables the system
to carry out stable target
detection even on a high-speed
boat at short range. Long
distance sensitivity is also
improved. High resolution
targeting and upgraded receiver
performance (MD-3642 only)
The IF amplifier performance
has been upgraded to enhance
targeting and detect hazards
such as buoys at short distances.

promises the best definition on short
ranges with better long range performance!
MD-3840T:
3.5 ft, 4kW, Open Scanner
MD-3840F: 4.5 ft, 4kW, Open Scanner
- Dual
speed antenna
By using two levels of antenna
speeds you have an optimized
target reception capability,
i.e., on short range, the
50 rpm speed provides faster
update of the targets approaching
or passing nearby, promising
a secured watch and safer
navigation in close range.
With 25 rpm speed, the targets
will be illuminated for relatively
longer period of time by the
slower speed, This causes
the targets to be presented
strongly on the screen. This
speed is also good for long
range observation.
- Function
keys and menu system
By assigning your most
frequently used functions
to the two FUNC keys, you
can quickly access favorite
radar functions. The menu
system also makes for easy
selection of the different
menu choices.
- The
pointing device
Newly developed pointing
device allows the setting
up of the off-centering position,
pointing cursor, etc. in quicker
and more accurately.
- Optional
range scales
In addition to the standard
range scales you can add optional
ranges to your needs via the
menu.
- GPS
receiver module built-in
A GPS receiver module can
be built-in to the display
unit. No external connection
is needed except the GPS antenna
cable. By using a GPS receiver,
the radar can be upgraded
to provide various navigational
information, including your
position, etc., plus various
radar picture modes includes
north up, course up and true
motion displays.
- Man-Over
Board function
By assigning the MEMO
L/L function to either of
the FUNC key, you can immediately
enter your current position
by pressing the assigned key.
(The GPS receiver module must
be connected) This function
is particularly useful for
locating a "Man-Over Board".
- Flexible
warning zone setting
Warning zone can be created
easily by designating two
points using the pointing
device anywhere on the screen.
The alarm zone can be set
either IN or OUT alarm mode.
- Improved
receiver performance
The performance of the receiver
section has been improved
to provide a higher definition
picture on short range and
to enhance the long range
performance as well. Wide
picture area The 180mm circular
area is maintained across
the screen for radar picture
presentation for better observation.
